Protect Your Skin from the Sun with … Chocolate?!

RSS

New research is finding out chocolate can help you prevent wrinkles and even avoid skin cancer!

The secret to chocolate’s health benefits is its high antioxidant flavanols found in cocoa beans. Antioxidants can help protect skin from the damaging effects of the sun’s UV radiation, including premature skin aging and skin cancer.

To see how eating chocolate offers sun protection, researchers in London tested a high-flavanol chocolate against a lower-flavanol chocolate. Those who ate the chocolate with more flavanols had better protection from the sun’s harmful rays!

So, the next time you go to the store, grab some dark chocolate with a cocoa content of 70 percent or higher and protect your skin from sun damage.
