Get wise to the latest Medicare scam!

Only people who have no insurance need to shop for it through insurance exchanges, also known as the Health Insurance Marketplace. If you’re enrolled in Medicare or Medicare Advantage, you are already insured. So relax — your Medicare coverage won’t be changing.

It’s illegal for anyone to sell you a Marketplace policy if they know you have Medicare. Watch out for fraudsters who claim you need to sign up for a “national insurance card” or some other plan. There is no such thing. Never give your Medicare number, Social Security number, or bank information to someone who knocks on your door or calls you out of the blue.

Shop for Medicare coverage safely at www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan or by calling 800-MEDICARE. People who need to get coverage through the Marketplace can learn about plans at www.healthcare.gov.
