Skip ID Theft Services
With all the dire warnings about identity theft, you might be tempted to invest in identity theft insurance or subscribe to a credit report monitoring service.
Consumer Reports says donŐt bother. These services generally arenŐt worth the money. Insurance costs up to $50 a year but provides limited coverage that rarely includes the money you lost from the crime.
Instead of paying up to $150 a year for someone else to monitor your credit report, just order an annual report from each of the three major credit bureaus. YouŐre entitled to one free report each year.
